How to Transform, Pain into Empathy
Welcome to The Organic Matrix,
Where we capture bytes of reality and make it eternal.
This article highlights a clip of our primer episode with Alex Chamizo. Alex Chamizo is a Reiki practitioner, and he also has his own business within the health and wellness industry.
Alex lives right by the ocean, where excellent weather is. Alex lives in Florida. During our talk, Alex discussed how we could use our pain and struggles as a tool to empathize with others.
How to transform pain into Empathy
For Alex, being grounded is a part of his nature.
Alex is a Virgo. He identifies as a Kapha energy.
Alex has a history of struggling with anxiety most of his life, which, of course, took him out of his body and more into his mind, and it threw off his nervous system, but through those dark places and struggles, Alex found a gift. He found a way to be motivated by having a very disciplined mindfulness and meditation practice. As a result, he says he feels less stressed when doing these disciplines.
When speaking to Alex, I could tell a lot of his compassion came from his personal experience. He can empathize with people who struggle with anxiety and with out-of-body experiences.
Alex feels like when you're in the thick of it. You don't know. All these crazy weird emotions blind you. He thinks, in hindsight, all the dark places we tend to go through to all the times we suffer or struggle can be used as a tool to view and empathize with other people's pain.
Alex told me that, believe it or not, we all go through our pain one way or another, whether it's vocalized or not. So going through our unique pain can enable us to be more open to the pain that other people experience rather than being closed-minded and judgmental about it because we all have our way of dealing with pain when we are suffering.
I Related to that.
I've been through a lot in my life. In retrospect, everybody can say that. However, my pain has also opened me up to caring more about other people's feelings and being more considerate.
Before I went through traumatic experiences, I was unaware of how shallow I could be by mimicking my surroundings, for instance, influences at school, what I saw on TV, what I saw on Instagram, and what I picked up from my family members. That's why I'm happy that I could move away from home, I was able to live in Atlanta for four years. I got to see a different perspective coming from New York and moving to the south. Seeing the differences in the culture helped me see that what I knew wasn't the center of the universe.
It allowed me to flex my mind.
