7 Reasons you NEED to add Lion's-Mane To your Diet

Introduction

If you're looking to boost your immune health, protect brain tissue, reduce inflammation, and more—lion's mane is the mushroom for you. In fact, this mushroom has so many therapeutic properties that it would be impossible to list them all. Below we'll go into some of why lion's mane has become a staple supplement in my routine.

  1. REGENERATE AND PROTECT BRAIN TISSUE

  • It can help protect against Alzheimer's disease.

In a study conducted by researchers at the University of South Florida, scientists discovered that the lion's mane mushroom may be able to protect brain cells from damage. The study was published in the journal Phytotherapy Research and found that extracts from the Lion's Mane mushroom could prevent amyloid protein formation (which causes plaque buildup in the brain). In addition, it showed that lion's mane extract could reduce inflammation, helping keep your brain healthy.*

  • It has been shown to help improve memory and learning ability.

A 2008 study published in Applied Neurology showed that extracts from lion's mane mushrooms could enhance cognitive function in rats exposed to toxic chemicals—an effect similar to ginkgo Biloba but with fewer side effects.*

2. LION'S MANE IS GREAT FOR THE HEART

In addition to many other benefits, the lion's mane mushroom can also improve heart health.

First and foremost, lion's mane has been shown to improve blood flow. This means that it helps your body get the nutrients it needs and move waste products out of your body. The better you can circulate blood throughout your body, the healthier you'll be!

Second, lion's mane has also been shown to reduce cholesterol levels in the blood by up to 43%. This is because this fungus makes sure you have plenty of HDL (high-density lipoprotein) cholesterol—the good kind that actually protects against heart disease and stroke—in circulation. More HDL means less risk for these two major diseases!

Thirdly, not only does it improve circulation, but it also helps lower blood pressure naturally which reduces the risk of hypertension and other cardiovascular issues like congestive heart failure or atherosclerosis (hardening of arteries).

3. LION'S MANE MAY REDUCE INFLAMMATION

  • Anti-inflammatory:

Lion's mane is a potent anti-inflammatory. It contains beta-glucans, polysaccharides, and ergothioneine. Beta-glucans are polysaccharides in the cell walls of certain fungi that have powerful antioxidant properties to help reduce inflammation in your body. The lion's mane mushroom is also an excellent source of these compounds and many other antioxidants that work together to combat inflammation and other signs of aging.

  • Beta-Glucans:

Beta-glucans are carbohydrates found mostly in mushrooms that help prevent or limit the growth of cancer cells by slowing down their reproduction rate without affecting healthy cells much at all (1). They also stimulate your immune system to produce white blood cells, which can help fight off viruses or bacteria (2). It's even been shown that when combined with vitamin D3, there's a significant increase in immunity against certain types of cancer because they both have similar properties when it comes down to fighting diseases like this one (3)

4. LIONS MANE CAN BOOST IMMUNE HEALTH

  • LION'S MANE IS A GREAT ADDITION TO YOUR DIET IF YOU ARE RECOVERING FROM AN ILLNESS

If you are an active person and do not get sick often, then lions-mane may not be the best option for your diet. However, if you are someone who does seem to catch every virus going around or has a weakness for colds and flus, then lion's-mane should be added to your daily routine! This is because lion's Mane contains polysaccharides that boost the immune system and beta-glucans, which also boost it.

5.  MAY FIGHT DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY

Lion's-mane is a type of mushroom that's particularly rich in B vitamins, proteins, and the amino acid Niacin. Lion's-mane is thought to help the body produce more serotonin, a neurotransmitter that helps regulate mood. It's also an adaptogen (a natural substance that helps the body respond to stress). So lion's-mane may help your mental health by helping you cope with stress and anxiety, but it won't make you sleepy or sluggish like many other antidepressants on the market today.

6. POSSIBLE ANTI-CANCER BENEFITS

If you're looking for another reason to add lion's mane to your diet, consider the possibility that it may help prevent cancer. A recent study shows that lion's mane has anti-cancer properties, acting as an antioxidant and reducing inflammation and oxidative stress. These three factors are essential in preventing cancer by hindering the growth of abnormal cells in our body.

7. Lion's mane is one of the best mushrooms for improving every aspect of your health

  • Lion's mane is a fantastic mushroom.

  • Lion's mane is one of the most potent medicinal mushrooms.

  • It's a great protein, fiber, B vitamins, and minerals source. It also contains protein-digesting enzymes that help digest other proteins even better than before!

Conclusion

While it has become increasingly popular as a brain supplement, lion's mane is an excellent mushroom for everyone. Not only can it help your brain, but this mushroom can benefit the heart, immune system, and even our moods. So it's no wonder that many people are starting to add lion mane mushrooms to their diet!
